One family, one Eastern Townships village, and fifteen years spent breeding a single line of Spaniels.
It started with a family dog, not a breeding plan.
Knowlton is a village on the shore of Lake Brome where tradition is passed down quietly — the local country club has been around for more than a century, and plenty of streets still carry their original English names. That's where Margaret and Richard Whitfield brought home their first Springer, bought for company and long walks around the lake.
Her sharpness and loyalty convinced their longtime veterinarian, after two years of full health screening, that she deserved a litter. That first litter became the seed of what, fifteen years later, would grow into Club de Knowlton: a small circle of families who come back, refer each other, and still gather every summer for an informal walk around the lake.
We still breed at home, one breed only, and never more than two or three litters a year.

One breed, known deeply
We don't diversify. Fifteen years devoted to the Springer Spaniel alone means we know its lines, temperaments and needs better than if we bred five different breeds.
A network of families
Families who adopt from us stay in touch with each other — advice, dog-sitting, sometimes even a future litter. It isn't a one-time transaction; it's a community that grows a little every year.
Always accessible
You can visit the kennel even without a firm plan. A breeder who hesitates to show you their dogs and facilities is telling you something — our door stays open.

We welcome families by appointment in Knowlton, even before a litter is born. You'll see where our dogs grow up, meet Sterling and Duchess, and ask every question you have — including the hard ones.
