Two breeding dogs, chosen for temperament as much as titles — and a full health record behind every litter.
We keep only two breeding dogs at a time. That's small on purpose: it lets us know them thoroughly, have them tested every year, and choose each mating based on how well temperaments complement each other — not just what's written on paper.
Sterling
Ch. Knowlton's Fairway Sterling · Liver & White · 6 years old
A conformation champion, Sterling is also the more sociable of our two breeding dogs — the first to greet a visiting family. He passes on a calm temperament and good bone structure to his offspring.

Duchess
Knowlton's Bellwood Duchess · Black & White · 5 years old
Reserve Best of Breed at the 2023 Estrie Regional Show, Duchess has a remarkable maternal instinct — she keeps an eye on her litters well past weaning. Her puppies inherit her sharpness and quick learning.

What we test for, and what we guarantee.
No mating takes place until Sterling and Duchess have passed, that year, every one of these tests.
Hips and elbows (OFA)
X-rays evaluated by the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals, redone every year on both parents.
Eye examination
Annual eye exam by a veterinary ophthalmologist, to screen for any hereditary retinal condition.
DNA panel
Genetic testing including Fucosidosis and Progressive Retinal Atrophy (PRA), two hereditary conditions documented in the breed — so we never pair two carriers.
Two-year guarantee against serious hereditary conditions, provided in writing at contract signing. Replacement or refund, your choice. Sterling's and Duchess's certificates are handed to you in person at your visit.
